Mr. Lee Downey - Principal

Mr. Lee Downey

LCHS Family, I am very excited to begin the 2017-18 school year in our beautiful LCHS building. With high expectations, accountability, caring, and hard work this school year is bound to be the greatest for LCHS. We want to continue to be a leader amongst all high schools in the commonwealth. Our focus this year continues to be ONE Family! It is very important to me and the LCHS Staff to foster an environment which will build a family atmosphere for all students with everything we do. Louisa County is dear to my heart as my wife Jennifer (teacher at LCMS) and I are raising our family here. We have three beautiful children (Alexis, Connor, and Jocelyn), Alexis is entering 8th grade at LCMS, Connor is in 6th grade at LCMS, and Jocelyn is in kindergarten at Thomas Jefferson Elementary. Let’s work TOGETHER to achieve the high expectations we set for ourselves. Please feel free to contact me at any time here at LCHS as I have an open door policy, or you can call me at (540)894-5436. Thank you so much and Game On, Lions!

Greetings! I would like to take the opportunity to welcome new students, parents, teachers and community members to LCHS. I am blessed to be a part of the LCHS family and given the opportunity in continuing the tradition of excellence that has been established in our school system. As Assistant Principal, I will work with the faculty, parents and each student to ensure that students are achieving at their highest potential. The goal is to ensure that each student becomes a productive member of the learning community, while finding a passion for the educational process to become a life-long learner. Through collaborative relationship building amongst the school and the community, students will be given a variety of opportunities to succeed. Successful schools are those that set high expectations for all involved. In addition, those schools who prove successful believe that everyone has a responsibility in ensuring the school is striving towards its vision.

Mr. Robbie Garnes  - Assistant Principal

Mr. Garnes

Greetings Lion Nation!!! I am so elated to become a part of the LCHS Family! I am entering my fifth year serving Louisa County Public Schools. I am a native of Brunswick County, Lawrenceville, Virginia. Truly, I am a product of a loving and supporting family that believes in education and supporting youth. I attended Saint Paul’s College where I majored in English and obtained an endorsement in Middle School Education.

In 2003, I was eager to embark upon my first teaching experience with the Henrico County Public School System where I served for five years and taught 6th Grade and 8th Grade English. During my first year serving in Henrico, I received the Fairfield Middle School 2003 Teacher of the Year Award and the 2003 Henrico County New Middle School Teacher of the Year Award. In 2006, I also received the Who's Who Among America's Teachers Award.

After relocating to North Carolina, I served the Bertie County Public School System and taught Grade 8 Language Arts/English, served as a member of the PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) team, advisor of the Phoenix Gents (Gentlemen), and co-founder and director of the Bertie Middle School Inspirational Choir.

After serving almost three years in Bertie County, I was led back to my wonderful home state, Virginia, to serve in the Chesterfield County Public School System; there, I served as the chairman of the PBIS team, member of the data team, safety team, school improvement team, and served as a Teacher Ambassador.

After several years of teaching, I decided to further my education by attending Virginia Tech University where I received my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.

I believe that every child has talent, special qualities, and can learn if given time, proper resources, and support. It is my goal to help students at LCHS meet their goals, overcome any academic and/or behavioral challenges, and grow into respectful, respected, and outstanding contributors to their community and potentially the nation. I want each student to know that the best thing about LCHS is his/her presence in the school building each day.

It is my desire to work closely with students, teachers, administrators, parents, and the overall community to ensure the growth and success of the entire LCHS family! Lions, let’s PROWL (Progress, Renew, Overachieve, Win, Learn)!
