A TIMELINE OF THE HISTORY OF LOUISA COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL
1938: Land for the school (31.78 acres) is purchased from C.P. Noel, Sr. for $2,000.
1940: LCHS opens, consolidating the high schools of Louisa, Mineral, and Apple Grove.
1948: 8th graders begin attending LCHS.
1950: LCHS hosts its first Homecoming.
1959: An addition is built onto the original building, adding a gym, cafeteria, and music department wing.
1969: A.G. Richardson High School becomes a part of the integration process in Louisa County. The two county high schools are consolidated to create Louisa County High School.
1974: A comprehensive renovation of LCHS is completed.
1995: The new Louisa County Middle School building opens on same campus as LCHS.
2002: A connector is built to unite LCHS structures.
2011: A 5.8 magnitude earthquake, with an epicenter in Louisa County, renders LCHS a total loss.
2012: A modular “pod” campus opens.
2013: Groundbreaking ceremonies are held for the new LCHS building.
2015: LCHS re-opens in its new state-of-the-art school.
